Turtle hang out
This is a turtle sunning himself on the top of a submerged fence post. How did he get there? I don't know.
These are a little more difficult to find than the normal Western Grebes. The Clark's eyes are in the white area of the head the Western's eye are in the black area of the head.
I was birding with a couple of biologists, what can I say.

It's that time of year once again. I'm always amazed at how quickly the weeds decide to grow and seeing my grandson in my yard boots truly amazing me on how quickly he has grown.
This red wing black bird is working very hard to protect his nesting territory. Here he's chasing away a black backed stilt. Good daddy bird he sent these stilts to the other side of the lake.
Checking the bluebird box
It's nesting time again and we're out on the bluebird trail counting baby birds. So far this year seems to be a good one.

A bird in hand
It's spring time and the birds are busy building nests, laying eggs and raising young. They are also busy being ferocious eaters consuming millions of bugs. Lend them a hand whenever you can.
