commented 3 months agoIncluding Sherryl or Luna in these incredible captures adds yet another layer of amazement to the overall image.I find myself backing up away from the monitor at times to study your images and understand what makes them so very special. There is much to be learned from your work and much that is simply and uniquely David Clendenen.

commented 3 months agoWayne, Well, this time you've brought the tears to my eyes. Luna is an incredible being, and you are I think quite correct in your statment of our relationship. There is a profound sense of rightness and familiarity when we are out in nature with her, and she has shown us so many things that we would have otherwise missed. She deeply imbues herself in all that we do, and she is indeed missing in so many ways from this image. It was taken four days after her surgery, and we were painfully concious of her absence that day. We pray that she will be able to accompany us on our rambles again. She is most alive and happy in snow, she is a puppy again.

commented 3 months agoDavid, when I saw the photo, I immediately sensed she had the surgery you had alluded to earlier. I began to pray for her then, as the tone of the shot shouted for her recovery. Every element in the photo seems to miss her presence. As you might gather, she has made a deep impression on me, and your photos act as a cipher to the profound effect she brings. Even as I type this, my heart goes out to her....and I wonder if she can sense the love that she is getting from people she has not even met....
I might even say that Luna has made a greater impact on me than any dog I can remember...it seems that she transmits a unique connection to the land and to people; the relationship she shares with you somehow is part of a greater extension of relationships that together cause mighty things to happen inside of the heart that melt and heal brokenness and transform a sense of loss to a sense of overcoming joy.

commented 3 months agoWayne, Among your many talents must be prescience. We just brought Luna home today from a week in the hospital. She had surgery on her spine in two places, decompression and fusion in both. She was in a lot of pain, and slowly losing the use of her rear legs. Its a gamble because she will be 14 years old in a few months. She has a long road to recovery..... ~2-3 months. For now, we're taking turns staying home with her. Luckily we can both do computer work from home. We have to hold her back end up with a sling to get her out for potty breaks, as she is a long way from standing on her own. Please pray for her, she needs all the help she can get!
