Star Magnolia
The old tree has thousands of buds probably less than two dozen opened over the last two days. I planted the tree in 1976.

commented 3 months agoThank You David for the kind words, I find your perception of the photo moving. As too your love of trees. I think no matter how much things change there will be people like us who love trees and will look out for their welfare. It is sad so many trees take hundreds of years to mature and we are here for just a short time. So I say enjoy and protect the trees we have and plant that seedling or seed for the next generations. As my Mom often said "mighty oaks from little acorns grow."

commented 3 months agoWonderful photograph Charlie! Its like the secret view of a very shy and beautiful creature. Very well done. I love your love of trees! We've spoken of this before, but there is nothing in this world like planting a tree, nurturing it, and watching it mature. There is a sadness for me, that I cannot plant an acorn, and live to see a mature gnarly oak tree.
