American White Pelican
Capture took place at Hart Park. There is a large number of them at Hart Park Lake. It's interesting to watch them scoop fish in unison.

commented 3 months agoI saw them doing that syncronized swimming, pretty neat how they could stay in timing in such a muddy lake. I got a couple more flight shots of some on Sunday.

commented 3 months agoI just saw these beauties out there a couple days ago. I'd never seen them out there when I lived here before... It is fun to watch their sychronised fishing. They reminded me of a rowing team. All swimming in a line, then all diving down at the same time... very entertaining. I love your flight photo. I waited a long time to get a shot like this. The closest I came was two in my frame.

commented 3 months agoThanks James. I went out Saturday, decided to take the D800 off my lens, and stuck on my D700. Spent some more time with the Varied Thrush. I saw the Osprey doing his fishing, but by the time I loaded up and drove over to him, he had already pulled a fish and flew off.
