Soda Pop Shop

The old Woolworth's Store in Bakersfield has been turned into the 5 and Dime Antique Store. The cafe, has been restored with great care, to its' original look and is a cool place to have lunch while taking in the feel of the 1940's.

This is an in camera HDR which is a blending of three exposures with the addition of a blue filter, so the settings are not correct on CKC.. The employees were instructed to hold still for 3 seconds while the camera did its' magic. That worked pretty well. I didn't have control over the customers though. One lady kept waving her arm but luckily it didn't show up in the photo.

I love it, Rhonda!...I remember going to Woolworth's often in SF, where the cable car terminated at Market St. and Powell.

Thanks, Richard and LIsa. It does provide us with a sense of the world as it was in the 40s and 50s. I've always like the idea of going back in time and I think that is why genealogy is interesting to me.
