David, it has had an almost perfect shape throughout the years. As you can see it has some dead wood which I should remove this winter. I am glad you like it and Thank You for the kind words.

Hi Wayne, they do best if they are not exposed to hot afternoon sun or reflected heat. I planted this tree over thirty-five years ago it came from Eby Nursery in Wilsonville Oregon. At that time it was probably 10 years old.

Charlie, we had a lovely Japanese maple in our first home, but it did not survive the heat. How old is yours?
