Black-Headed Grosbeak (male)

For some the marking of the seasons is a matter of what official holiday designates it; i.e. memorial day indicates the start of summer. For me it is the rhythum of the birds, and the change of constelations. When I see the Black-Headed grosbeak appear, and stay from day to day, I know that summer is official.
