Fall Leaves and Plumage

We are at the Autumnal equinox; fall is official here. Two types of transition are occurring: leaves are ceasing photosynthesis, and a tree is preparing for dormancy; a scrub jay has donned it's best attire, a prelude the season of territory establishment, and later courtship.
